Dee's Wild Things   Deanna Maxwell   Freelance Artist

Home Page

I am a self taught artist from Vancouver Island British Columbia, Canada.  I have been drawing pet portraits for over 25 years now and have extended my love of nature into my art works, and currently have 4 limited edition prints to my name.
I had spent many years living in Northern Ontario surrounded by the Boreal forest, wild lakes and vast scenery.   Being so close to nature daily inspired me to create drawings of my Bear, Bobcat, and Coyote.  I loved to see the vast untamed wilderness at my doorstep.
I moved back to British Columbia in 2008 with my family, and it was here that I saw the need for support in the rescue community, and have been working as an artist donating my time and skill trying to raise awareness and much needed funds for many rescues since.
I am a strong supporter of animal rights, and try to bring awareness to the conditions that exist today for many dogs and cats unfortunate enough to find themselves in  shelters across Canada and the United States.

My latest print is in support of Camp Cocker Rescue in California, where Stanley the pit bull was first found and then rescued by the amazing and dedicated people there,.......check out his story, Just One Dog on YouTube.
